UKATA & IATP Non Licensed Asbestos Removal Course

UKATA and IATP certification - 1 1/2 days duration. Both of these courses fully comply with HSE Category 'B' Training.

The non-licensed asbestos course is one of our on-site training services. We can accomodate up to 10 delegates per session. Please call us on 0800 6122035 for a quotation.

This qualification is an ever-increasing requirement for UK maintenance contractors because of HSE enforcement on operatives who may encounter asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). If your work is likely to disturb, handle, remove or drill into low-risk ACMs, then you must by law undergo a non-licensed working with asbestos training course to comply with the HSE legal regulations.

You'll learn how to risk assess different asbestos products, including their condition, identifying how friable an ACM is, and whether it will need Notifiable Non-Licensed Work (NNLW) carrying out.

* Delegates must satisfy our entry requirements for both training courses. Practical facilities will be required for UKATA certification, with a tutor to delegate ratio of 1:10.

This course covers:

  • A brief history of the uses of asbestos
  • Properties and risks of asbestos types
  • Knowledge of the effects of asbestos on workers' health
  • Awareness of the types, uses and risks of ACMs in buildings and plant
  • Safety procedures and controls to deal with accidental exposure to ACMs
  • How to avoid the risks of asbestos dust and fibres in buildings
  • The Employer and Employees' legal responsibilities
  • Coverage of HSG 210 and the implications for non-licensed works
  • EM guidance sheets 4-10
  • Bespoke coverage of relevant task guidance sheets where applicable
  • Delegate assessment
