Key Facts
HSE statement dated March 2011. "Online learning (often referred to as e-learning) is increasingly used as a method of providing asbestos awareness training. HSE recognises the use of e-learning as a viable delivery method, among others, for the delivery of information, instruction and training in relation to asbestos awareness training, provided the course content satisfies the objectives as stipulated in Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations and the supporting Approved Code of Practice.". Our training meets these requirements.
- Asbestos was not banned until 1999! therefore any building built or refurbished before that date could potentially contain asbestos.
- Ever heard of a register? Your clients are legally bound to supply to you before you start work in any building built before 2000 an ‘asbestos building register’, this register uses information taken from the asbestos survey, don’t start work without it!
- The HSE estimate that 20 tradesmen die each week from asbestos related diseases. The overall number of deaths each year is estimated to be over 4500.
- The death rates from asbestos related diseases are expected to continue to rise at a steady rate until after 2025. Only then will we expect to see a drop in figures.

Over 95% of all materials that used asbestos and installed within or on buildings fall into the category of lower risk materials? This means you don’t have to use an HSE licensed contractor for removal or disposal? If you need to work on these materials, we can provide the training!
